Updating Your Bio and Headline

First Impressions Count on Social Media

Social Media bios and headlines help potential customers find and learn more about your business. They can also be the first impression a customer will have about your brand. Make it a good one!

Write for Your Audience and the Platform

Two factors to keep in mind are the platform and your audience. A LinkedIn headline will be more formal and professional than if you are writing it for Facebook or Instagram. For all platforms think about keywords that your ideal customer will be searching for and use those specific words. Remember that someone should read your bio and have a clear understanding of what do. If they don’t, that’s a problem that you need to fix. Have someone else read it too. Do they understand what you have to offer?

Don’t Forget Your Brand

Branding is another important concern. Your picture, logo, and colors should be consistent across all platforms.  A style guide would be helpful here include a headshot, logo, brand colors, and any other relevant information. Now you have all the information in one place. This will make it easier to hire someone to do your social media or to it delegate to an employee in the future.

CTA is a Must

Don’t forget a call to action (CTA). It could be “Join my email list,” or “Check out my blog.” Then give them a link to follow. The CTA can change depending on the season or your current offers. You can use Linktree or a direct link to a webpage. I place my current offer on the top of my Linktree link. Right now, it is a link to a special I am running for a social media audit. I am offering a 50% discount on the package until the 1/31/2022. (Code: NEWYEAR2022)

Keep it Current

Every month or two, quickly look over your bios and headlines to make sure that all the information is current and the links work. How bad is it when a potential customer to sees old information? Change the information for new offers or products. This is another task easily delegated to an employee.  Good luck with you new and improved bios and headlines.
